Frequently Asked Questions

ENTER A COMPETITION ROUND NOW

Summer Competition - AVSL

How many events can I enter?

The great thing about AVSL is that you can enter as many events as you like for a single entry fee. The only restriction is around scheduling, so you'll need to make sure events you enter are not directly conflicting or too close together. Make sure you leave enough time to warm up and cool down, and don’t risk an injury!

Bear in mind that a maximum of three events entered count for scoring, and not all events are eligible to score either.  Check the entry sheet and timetable ahead of each round, and choose wisely…

What do I need to take with me?

The main things you'll need are your race bibs (numbers) and uniform which identifies that you are competing for MUAC. Other than that, please be aware of specific rules for your sport, such as compliant shoes and equipment.

Where do I get my race bibs?

This depends when during the year you register. If you've competed in the winter season you're good to go, as your bibs are valid for the whole 25/26 season. If you register in good time before the first round you want to compete in (around a week or more), your bibs should be available to collect at the first round you attend. If you register last minute, you will likely need to ask for temporary bibs at your first round and your proper ones should be available for the next one.

If you forget them, AV will normally allow you to compete in temporary ones - but repeat offenders will likely be required to buy new ones. Keep your bibs safe and certainly don't discard them - AV charges around $50 to replace them!

MUAC volunteers will often pick up new bibs from each event, so if all else fails, get in touch: summer@muac.org.au or via the club WhatsApp group (access via the link in club emails).

What do I need to do on the day of competition?

You'll need to make sure you show up in good time for your event and check in. Checking in simply informs AV that you are still intending to compete, and this is done around an hour or two before your event online through the AV ResultsHub (https://www.athsvic.resultshub.com.au/). You can find instructions on using this system, here: https://athsvic.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/athlete-instructions-2023-24-short.pdf

If you experience any issues with this, you should check in manually with the officials at the event.

Volunteering

Like all clubs, MUAC is required to provide club helpers for half of the rounds in the AVSL calendar.

Helper roles are good fun and a great way to get out and support your fellow athletes while giving your time to the athletics community. You can volunteer yourself, or ask a friend or family member to come along. Roles typically last most of the afternoon's competition and could involve:

  • Track duties: Such as setting up hurdles, manning the lap board, tracking finishers or assisting officials
  • High jump: Adjusting jump heights and setting the bar
  • Pole vault: Resetting the bar and adjusting stand settings

When do we need club helpers?

Our requirements for the season are as follows:

  • 11/10/25: Rd.1: 3 required at Williamstown
  • 8/11/25: Rd.3: 3 required at Keilor
  • 22/11/25: Rd.5: 3 required at Aberfeldie
  • 31/01/25: Rd.8: 3 required at Aberfeldie
  • 28/02/25: Rd.10: 3 required at Aberfeldie

How do I volunteer?

If you, or a friend/family member can volunteer at one of these events, please get in touch with the Summer Manager (summer@muac.org.au) or the club WhatsApp group (check your club emails for the link to join). Thank you in advance for your time 😎

Can I volunteer if I'm competing?

This depends on scheduling and requires some forward planning, but you can usually volunteer and compete as long as any conflicts are managed. Better yet, you can share the responsibility with a friend who can fill in for you while you compete.

What do I get in return?

Our policies recognise your contributions, both in competition and volunteering. In return for your time and energy, you can earn a discount on your club registration fees for next year! You will also register extra points in the overall club competition to win the coveted Lewandowski-Reade trophy.

I have more questions...

The summer season can seem confusing - but fear not, help is at hand! Look out for emails ahead of each round where specific info will be given.

In addition, if you're part of a training squad, you can ask your coach, otherwise you can email summer@muac.org.au.
